Stewarding Supervisor (Signature at MGM Grand)
Job Purpose:
Assist the Stewarding Assistant Manager with overseeing the Kitchen Cleaning Specialists for all towers, including but not limited to assignments in the kitchens, outlets, and meeting space when needed.
Position Responsibilities:
Supervise assigned operational functions within the department consistent with the strategic plan, the fiscal budget, and the company’s short term and long-term profitability objectives.
Supervise assigned staff to include: hiring recommendations that encompass the company’s diversity commitment; training; coaching; performance feedback, recommending and administering discipline, and scheduling. Create a work environment that promotes teamwork, recognition, mutual respect and employee satisfaction
Provide ideas and suggestions for new products, services, technology and processes in anticipation of changing customer needs within the dynamic hospitality and gaming environment
Monitor supply requisitions to ensure costs are kept to a minimum without losing quality and usage of materials
Maintain inventory and record keeping for all dinnerware, flatware, glassware, and linen
Communication of all pertinent information on a "need to know" basis to persons within the department
Practice and observe safety rules & regulations and encourages others to do the same
Make routine inspections of all equipment and kitchen areas to ensure that cleanliness and sanitary procedures are maintained and to ensure that all equipment is in proper working condition
Perform all front desk duties when necessary
Respond to emergency situations accordingly
Perform other job related duties as assigned
Conditions of Employment: 21+ years of age, proof of eligibility to work in the United States, pass a pre-employment drug test, drivers license check (when applicable), and criminal history background check. Ability to obtain a valid Health Card. High School Diploma or equivalent, ability to communicate effectively in English both oral and written form, excellent interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts, maintain a professional, neat and well-groomed appearance adhering to standards, work varied shifts to include weekends and holidays.
Specific Job Requirements: Two (2) years of work experience or equivalent formal education with a degree in a related field, with at least one (1) year previous experience in a supervisory capacity. Bi-lingual capabilities (Spanish) preferred. Strong working knowledge of all Kitchen Steward functions and of all cleaning materials and equipment used. Basic computer skills. Excellent organizational skills, able to function under time constraints, and deadlines with attention to detail. Must have effective listening abilities and have the ability to make decisions. Maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude to deal effectively with owners, guests, management, employees, and outside contacts while working under pressure and meeting deadlines. Able to frequently move freely about the office, sit for long periods and withstand various activities such as frequent walking, standing, bending. Maintain manual dexterity to access computer via computer keyboard and operate office equipment, such as telephones, copiers, fax machine, etc. Work in a busy and noisy environment with constant dirt, dust, smoke and fumes. Ability to work indoors, with frequent cold or warm temperatures. Access all areas of the facility and travel off property when representing The Signature.
